O.K.! So, we sho' nuff been having us some HOT days. Howsome ever, have ya'll noticed the return of the beauty of our trees and landscape? Seems lak Mother Nature is doing a good job of covering up the disaster done to us by Katrina.

Sorry to learn that sweet young girl, Caroline Crouch, is having some medical problems. She has been through so much after having lung surgery at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. We do pray the Lord will be with her and pull her through this spell. Caroline is the daughter of Mary Sherman and Dan Goldsby. She is the granddaughter of Ursula Cefalu Sherman.

It's always good to hear dat someone who has been through a severe heart attack is now home and recovering nicely. Talking 'bout Robert Frohn. Robert spent quite a few days in I.C.U. at North Oaks Hospital following a heart attack. De Doctors - wid de Lord's help - pulled him through. We are so glad he's home now - doing O.K.

Charles and Debbie Santora spent two weeks on a vacation to Alabama and points East to celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversary. Now ain't that great? The way the folks are today - not too many marriages hold together 40 days - let alone 40 years. Congratulations - Charles and Debbie. Ya'll are a wonderful couple! May God continue to bless you.

Mary Lou Lee, Amite City Hall Clerk, took a week off fer a Florida vacation. She came home sun tanned and rested. She be de glue what holds City Hall together. Don't know how it held up wid her gone - but it's still thar. Iffen any thang got outta whack wid Mary Lou gone - she'll put it back to rights.

Sho' been praying dat de Lord will be wid Tom "Ace" Magee. He suffered a severe heart attack while on the job at the Medicaid Office in Hammond. He received good medical attention. He tried to return to work, but become ill again. He is now home - recovering nicely. Ya' see, Ace wuz a co-worker wid me at the Welfare Office (it's had it's name changed a time or two) in Amite fer many years. It wuz a joy working wid him. Ace is one of a kind. He always kept us laughing. He jes has his own ways. And ya' jes had to get to know him to appreciate him. His fella workers in the Hammond Office sho' nuff miss him and are praying for his total recovery. They is in need of a good laugh.

My article last week was written 'bout school days. Wal! rekon it wuz the way usta be a long time ago. In them old days - kids showed up wid a birth certificate and comfortable clothes - nothing else - except a Mom telling 'em to be good and listen to de teacher. Gov. Huey Long - back in de 1930's - put in free school books fer de schools. De books stayed at de school and wuz handed down from year to year. Dat ain't de way it is today. Now days - kids has to carry books and materials in a "Back Book Sack" - which weighs as much as de kid. Even worse - usta be de Tangipahoa Parish School Board ran de schools. Not no more! The person voted in as a School Board Member has little to say about anything pertaining to "education" of our children. By taking Prayer out of schools, the school children have been badly hurt. Wal! Here's de new set-up.

Judge Lionel (don't know his last name) of U.S. District Court fer Eastern District of Louisiana made a ruling fer Joyce Marie Moore, et al. Don't know her nor her et al - which is probably A.C.L.U. This ruling which is a "numbers game" designed to rule and ruin our schools. (It caused Amite High to lose a fine, wonderful Coach) NOW - for a child to enter a school, they must present a notarized affidavit stating the child's address, with whom it lives and present a utility bill in the homeowner's name. This required Notarized Affidavit is in triplicate, disbursed as follows:

WHITE COPY: to Compliance Officer Arlene Guerin.

CANARY COPY: to Chief Desegregation Implimentation Officer.

PINK COPY: to School file.

First - only the white sheet of this Affidavit can be notarized. A carbon - (canary and pink) - cannot be notarized. This form is the result of this "numbers game" - it has nothing to do wid "Educating a child" - and iffen the child is on the wrong side of "Desegregation Implimentation" game - he or she is not accepted at that school.

All of dis nonsense up-set me. Jes' don't lak being upset 'cause it upsets me. Ain't no use voting fer a School Board Member 'cause Joyce Marie Moore, et al, (who ever she is and whar ever she come from) is running de schools.
