BATON ROUGE--The LSU Tigers had 103 players begin practice last week as Coach Les Miles opened training camp, only a small bit of the news for the Tigers last week.

--LSU sold out of season football tickets for the ninth straight year and in the process tied the school record for season ticket sales

--LSU picked up Penn State QB Rob Bolden.

--And the Tigers were ranked #1 in the first USA Today/Coaches Poll for the 2012 college football season.

The fallout from the NCAA penalties to the Penn State football program continued as several notable players transferred from Penn State to other colleges. One of those transfers was QB Rob Bolden.

Bolden, once the starting QB at Penn State, now is at LSU practicing with the #1- ranked Tigers.

Bolden is eligible right now as the NCAA granted any transfers from Penn State the opportunity to play right away due to the penalties that were handed down to the PSU Football Program.

Then later in the week, the Tigers learned that they started the season ranked #1 in the nation according to the USA Today Coaches Poll. The last team to start the season ranked #1 and finish first was the 2004 USC Trojans, who later had their title stripped.

Alabama was ranked #2, USC #3, Oklahoma #4 and Oregon #5.

The Tigers open their 2012 regular season at home Saturday, Sept. 1 as they play host to North Texas University in Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers have their annual media day Tuesday with Coach Miles and his coordinators.

And Tiger Stadium will continue to be jam-packed as the LSU Athletic Department released their season ticket numbers for the upcoming 2012 home football schedule.

LSU sold 68,772 season tickets for the 2012 home slate, equal to the mark set in 2011. Before 2011, the most season tickets sold for LSU football was 68,650 done for three consecutive years from 2008-2010.

Tiger Stadium capacity increased to 92,542 prior to the 2011 season as additional seats were added in the club level.

The Tigers still have some individual tickets available for the following games:

--North Texas,

--Idaho,

--Towson,

--and Mississippi State. Other remaining games are sold out.
