The following was compiled from the Tangi Digest, Tangi Talk and News Digest from 2004 through 1950.

August 24, 2004 - Amite City got a new water tower on West Factory Street. Four Lallie Kemp employees were honored: Tara LaMarco, Barbara Kinchen, Herman Hagar, Bobby Elie. Kent Frazier, Blair Rohner were named to NLU's Dean's List. Kimberly Pikes participated in Nationals 2004 Miss Teen Baton Rouge Pageant.

August 21, 1985 - Lisa Gayle Hawkins and Mary Margaret Divincenti received degrees from NLU. Ground beef is $1.19 a lb. at Sunflower Food Stores. Marine Pfc. Bruce Johnson completed his Basic Supply Stock Control Course. TG&Y celebrated its grand reopening. Army Private Anthony Lynch completed one station unit training. RIchard Carter, infantryman. is a member of the 3rd Battalion, 502nd Infantry, Fort Campbell, Ky. and participated in the multi-national peacekeeping force.

August 22, 1973 - Buck Cefalu is the new owner of Johnson-Cefalu, Inc. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney LaBauve celebrated their 50th anniversary. A. R. Blossman's had a 3-piece solid oak Spanish bedroom set for $257. National Food Store has vine ripe tomatoes for 25 cents a lb. Marine Staff Sgt. David M. Groce was promoted to his present rank while serving with the Fleet Marine Force.

August 21, 1959 - Postmaster Hugh Goldsby, who had been the postmaster since 1938, retired. Victor Lovett, Amite musician, has been given a scholarship to play in SLC's Green and Gold Band. A 1956 Buick Sport is now $1295 at Hood's. Green Mansions with Tony Perkins is playing at the Amite Theatre. Tunnel of Love with Doris Day is playing at the Skaggs Drive-In.

August 25, 1950 - Mickey Case brought home honors at Boys State at LSU. The Amite City Volunteer Fire Dept. has added a Western Union clock. They will blow the whistle at noon and 6 p.m. Patterson's Food Store has all cuts of fresh Western beef, veal, pork, poultry, lunch meats. Spitale's Beer Garden now has boiled shrimp, crabs every Friday, Saturday night. "Stool Pigeon" with Shelley Winters is playing at Mixon's Drive-In.
