So - they wuz cheated out of 20 years. The Anniversary Celebration will take place on September 4, 2010 at their home in Baton Rouge. Sorry 'bout dat mistake, Folks! In spite of "Stormy Weather", had a very happy Sunday afternoon. Michelle Dees invited me to have Sunday dinner at her home. Her Grandmother, Mary Howard and her aid, Nancy (forgot to get Nancy's last name) were also present fer dinner. Ya' remember Mary Howard broke her hip last Christmas Day. Wal! She 'bout totally recovere from dat injury and recently made a "miss-step" and badly injured her left leg - so now - she needs someone wid her all de time. Mrs. Mary Howard is pert near the same age as me, so we have shared great stories from de good old days. Now, Nancy is a whole lot younger, but she comes from a large country family and grew up much lak me. Really enjoyed talking wid her. Lak me - she didn't have expensive dolls, bright , shiny colored plastic toys, computers, cell phones or mechanical toys. Her play things were pine cones and straw, flowers in the woods, and sand and rocks along the creeks and bayous. She wuz raised in Cajun Country wid six kids in her family. She is very fond of Justin Wilson. Nancy's Dad wuz an Army M.P. One day, Willie Nelson wuz playing a gig on her Dad's army base. Willie Nelson became very drunk. Howsome ever, instead of arresting Willie, her Dad brought him home, fed him and sobered him up. So - Nancy got to meet Willie Nelson. She had an interesting childhood and she and Mary Howard made for a very pleasant afternoon - in spite of the stormy weather.

Had a chance to talk wid an old friend, Elouise Carney Lee of Picayune, Mississippi. Elouise started - (along wid me) in the First Grade at Ella Strickland Grammar School and we became fast friends all through those years. We graduated from Amite High School in 1944. Not many of dat class is left. We had a picnic out at Big Creek. Dat wuz our "Senior Day Celebration". Now-a-days - Seniors go on cruises or long trips to Disney World. The World - especially America - jes ain't de same. Back in the 1930's, Tom Carney,(Elouise's Dad) would load up some of his kids and Elouise and me in his old 4 door vehicle - drive up Town and park in front of "Morgan and Lindsey" and watch the Folks parade by. That wuz our entertainment. Morgan and Lindsey wuz located on NE Central R.R. Ave. - rat cross from where the Amite City police Station is now. The tornado of 1940 destroyed Morgan and Lindsey - and our Saturday afternoon entertainment. Them wuz good day!

Can't figger out what people in Naw Leans is celebrating. It wuz said they wuz celebrating - Aug 25, 1995, when Katrina devastated this part of our world. They is been partying fer the past two weeks jes lak Mardi Gras. It would be nice iffen they said a prayer fer their deceased loved ones and try to keep them 15,16,17 year old younguns off the streets - killing whoever they come up on. Them kids need to be home, in bed and supervised by a responsible adult. Wonder where they get they guns from? May the Lord have mercy on Naw Leans!
