PENSACOLA - Coach Alden Foster went on a lot of long road trips while playing at Southern University in Baton Rouge, but he never went on one this long while playing for the Warriors of Amite.

Amite’s Josh Gibson picked off a pass and then returned it 60 yards to help give the Warriors a big 13-12 road win over Pace High School of Pensacola, Florida. The Warriors are now 1-0 on the season and will be at home this week to take on the Kentwood Kangaroos.

"We stopped ourselves," Amite coach Alden Foster told the Pensacola News Journal after the Warriors' big win. "Not to take anything away from Pace, because that's probably the most physical team we'll see all season, but we shot ourselves in the foot all night. I told the defense to hang in there and then Josh made a play for us."

Amite was down 12-0 in the game before storming back to notch a big win. "Josh Gibson is somebody that always believes in himself. He was in the right place at the right time," Coach Foster said.

Pace is a solid team in the state of Florida with several division I-A prospects on this year’s roster. "I am proud of the way we handle the long trip and that we were able to pick up the win," said Coach Foster. "We have to put this game behind us now and focus on a good Kentwood team."
